Arielle E. Rubin, MD

Child, Adolescent Psychiatrist | Neurodiversity-Affirming Care & Family-Centered Mental Health

Dr. Arielle Rubin specializes in psychiatric assessments and medication management for pediatric patients. An expert in psychiatric care for autistic individuals, she also lends her expertise to a spectrum of pediatric mental health concerns, including bipolar disorder, anxiety, PTSD, and co-existing neurological disorders. Dr. Rubin obtained her medical degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine and completed her psychiatry residency at the University of Texas Southwestern. She followed this with a child/adolescent psychiatry fellowship at Phoenix Children's Hospital. Fluent in Spanish, she is also active in autism education and advocacy through community lectures, autism parent support groups, her blog at ariellerubinmd.com, and her Instagram, @ariellerubinmd. Dr. Arielle Rubin also holds a Faculty Position as Assistant Clinical Professor, Division of Psychiatry and Child Health at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix. Mark L. Rubin, MD

Child, Adolescent & Adult Psychiatrist | Developmental Disabilities & Complex Psychopharmacology

Dr. Mark Rubin is the medical director of Rubin Center Psychiatry, and has over 40 years of experience providing expert psychiatric care to children, adolescents, and college youth, from ages 5 to 20. He specializes in complex psychopharmacology and Autism mental health management. His interests are in Autism care, developmental disorders, and all major child/adolescent psychiatric disorders. He graduated from Columbia University Medical School, and completed his residency in adult psychiatry and child and adolescent fellowship at at Harvard’s Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He then completed an additional specialty fellowship in Developmental Disability Care at Massachusetts Mental Health Center. Dr. Mark Rubin has extensive experience in crisis stabilization, foster care needs, and different levels of care including prior medical director positions at inpatient hospitals, residential treatment centers, adolescent and adult developmental group homes, and served as prior medical director at the Arizona Department of Developmental Disabilities (DDD).

Alicia Halbert, DO

Adolescent and College Age Youth | General Adult | Women's Mental Health Psychiatrist | Addiction Psychiatry

Dr. Alicia Halbert is a board-certified adult psychiatrist specializing in adolescents and young adults (13+), women’s mental health, and addiction psychiatry. She provides patient-centered, trauma-informed care for individuals navigating mood, anxiety, and life-transition challenges. She has a special interest in adolescent and young adult psychiatry, focusing on the developmental and emotional needs that emerge during this stage.

Dr. Halbert assesses and treats general patients for a wide range of psychiatric concerns, including depression, anxiety, bipolar spectrum disorders, OCD, trauma-related disorders, ADHD, and early psychosis. Her approach with adolescents and young adults emphasizes emotional regulation, identity development and independence goals, academic stressors and executive functioning/ADHD needs

Dr. Halbert has advanced training in reproductive and hormonal mental health, treating women through pre-pregnancy, perinatal, and postpartum mood and anxiety disorders, PMDD, infertility-related distress, and the care during pregnancy loss or child illness. She provides psychiatric care during lactation, perimenopause, and menopause.

She earned her medical degree from Western University of Health Sciences in Los Angeles and completed her psychiatry residency at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson. Dr. Halbert is a member of Postpartum Support International.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and reading.

Nicholas R. Ahrendt, MD

Dr. Nicholas R. Ahrendt is a dual board-certified physician in Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine, with experience in both private practice and public mental health care settings. He specializes in the treatment of mood disorders, trauma-related conditions, and substance use disorders, using an integrative, evidence-based approach to psychiatric care.

Dr. Ahrendt has served as President of the Arizona Psychiatric Society and is Associate Faculty for the University of Arizona-Tucson Psychiatry Residency Program, where he helps train the next generation of psychiatrists.

Before joining Rubin Center Psychiatry, Dr. Ahrendt was the Associate Medical Director at Sierra Tucson, a nationally recognized residential treatment center for trauma, addiction, and complex mood disorders.

He is known for his thoughtful, collaborative approach and commitment to advancing high-quality mental health care in Arizona. Outside of work, Dr. Ahrendt enjoys bicycling and traveling with his wife.

Jennifer Sorg, PMHNP-BC

Jennifer is a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with over 20 years of experience in clinical practice.

Jennifer offers comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, supportive therapy, and crisis intervention for children, adolescents, and adults. She has practiced in outpatient mental health and integrated primary care settings, including pediatric care environments, where she developed a holistic, team-based approach to psychiatric treatment. She served in the U.S. Army both as a combat medic and later as a psychiatric nurse practitioner, providing compassionate mental health support to service members, veterans, and their families. She is experienced in coordinating care across systems and offering clinical support tailored to both youth and adults.

Her clinical expertise includes treating ADHD, depression, bipolar disorder, generalized anxiety, PTSD, and trauma-related disorders. She is also experienced in addiction treatment, autism spectrum care, and women’s mental health.

She values clear communication, patient education, and coordination with families and therapists to create individualized, sustainable treatment plans that support long-term growth and well-being.

Aura Villamil-Rubin, PhD

Licensed Clinical and Educational Psychologist | Autism & Developmental Disabilities Specialist | Psychological Testing| Offers Spanish-Speaking Services

Dr. Aura Villamil-Rubin is a seasoned licensed clinical psychologist specializing in psychological evaluations and therapy for children, adolescents, and adults. She is known for providing culturally sensitive, neurodiversity-affirming care to diverse families throughout Arizona communities.

Dr. Villamil-Rubin’s diagnostic expertise includes comprehensive psychological testing for autism spectrum disorder, developmental disabilities, learning disorders, ADHD, mood disorders, personality disorders, and trauma-related conditions. She also conducts diagnostic evaluations for immigration-related services and educational/academic testing for schools. Her deep understanding of cultural and linguistic contexts makes her a trusted clinician for immigrant families.

Her therapeutic experience includes treating emotional dysregulation, trauma, social skill difficulties, and complex family dynamics. Her background includes more than two decades serving as a bilingual school psychologist, where she advocated for inclusive services and accommodations.

Dr. Villamil-Rubin earned her PhD doctoral degree in clinical and educational psychology from Northeastern University.

Jennifer Micue, LCSW

Jennifer is a licensed therapist and clinical supervisor through the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners. She is deeply committed to supporting neurodivergent individuals—especially children, teens, young adults, and their families—through trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming care.

She has extensive experience working with clients who have co-occurring medical needs, drawing from her background in integrative primary care. Jennifer also provides care navigation and therapeutic support to autism families, helping them manage complex emotional and developmental challenges. She is a Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist and trained in ADOS-2.

As an experienced grief counselor, Jennifer works with individuals coping with all types of loss. She has advanced training in maternal mental health, including support around pregnancy, postpartum adjustment, infertility, miscarriage, and infant loss.

Jennifer uses a person-centered approach grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). Known for her creative use of visual supports and her warm, direct style, she creates a safe and welcoming space for clients—especially those new to therapy or recovering from a previous negative experience.

Outside of work, Jennifer enjoys spending time outdoors, being with her family, and exploring local coffee shops. A favorite reminder she shares with clients: “When you say yes to something, you are saying no to something else.”

Dani Misiak, therapist treating autism, ADHD, anxiety, mood disorders, and trauma in children, teens, and young adults in Arizona

Dani Misiak is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Autism Specialist, Trauma Specialist with deep expertise in treating a wide range of complex mental health conditions across children, teens, and young adults. She is especially skilled in working with mood disorders such as pediatric depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, early-onset psychosis, PTSD, and personality disorders. In addition, Dani has specialized training and experience supporting neurodivergent individuals, with a clinical focus on autism and ADHD.

Her background includes residential treatment centers with youth navigating severe emotional challenges, and extensive work with trauma survivors. Dani also provides therapy for youth with problematic sexual behavior, offering a safe, structured space to process trauma and build healthy, respectful relational skills.

Dani is trained in a broad range of evidence-based therapies, including Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), play therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and EMDR. Her developmentally sensitive approach supports clients with emotion regulation, behavioral difficulties, and social interaction challenges.

Dani provides therapy for college-aged individuals and young adults navigating identity, relationships, and academic pressure. She also offers parent, couples, and family therapy, helping families build resilience, reduce stress, and strengthen connection.

Reece Weitzel will graduate from Midwestern University this August with his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (PsyD) and will join Rubin Center Psychiatry as a postdoctoral fellow. He specializes in psychological testing and therapy for neurodiverse children, adolescents, and adults. He has advanced training in complex autism evaluations, ADHD testing, learning differences, giftedness, 2E profiles, and emotional/behavioral concerns. He integrates testing results with parent input, school data, and clinical interviews for guidance for IEPs, 504 plans, and school and work accommodations.

Reece Weitzel will be joining Rubin Center Psychiatry in August 2026 following completion of his APA-accredited doctoral internship. Due to high demand for psychological testing and neurodiversity affirming therapy services, we are currently accepting early interest and waitlist requests for his schedule.

In addition to psychological evaluations, he provides individual therapy, family focused work, and parent coaching for children and adults experiencing anxiety, ADHD, depression, OCD, trauma, emotional regulation challenges, and impulse control difficulties.

He has a strong interest in working with neurodivergent individuals, including those navigating sensory sensitivities, burnout, masking, and feeling “different” in social or professional environments. He supports individuals who think deeply and feel strongly, are highly values-driven, and may find themselves impacted by issues of fairness, high personal expectations, or complex social dynamics.

His work focuses on helping individuals better understand how their brain works while building practical coping strategies, improving emotional regulation, and developing confidence and sustainable ways of engaging with the world.

Child, Adolescent & Young Adult Therapy | Anxiety, OCD, Substance Use & Emotional Regulation

Cassie Raymond is a doctoral candidate in Clinical Psychology, currently completing her advanced clinical training at Rubin Center Psychiatry. She provides therapy and psychological assessment for children, adolescents, adults, and families.

Cassie uses evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and the Unified Protocol for Emotional Disorders, helping patients strengthen emotional regulation, build effective coping strategies, and increase distress tolerance. She works with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD, trauma-related concerns, and challenges with impulsivity. Cassie has experience working with children with autism and developmental differences in both clinical and educational settings, and brings a strengths-based, inclusive approach.

Cassie has extensive experience working with teens and college-age individuals and young adults, supporting concerns related to identity development, peer relationships, substance use, and life transitions. Her research focuses on adolescent risk behavior and substance use, which informs her work with patients navigating impulsivity, decision-making, and high-risk environments.

Her clinical background includes training through the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), where she participated in clinical research and exposure to complex pediatric and adult mental health presentations, as well as crisis intervention work.

Outside of her clinical and research work, Cassie enjoys spending time outdoors, staying active, and crafting.

Mirella “Jasmin” is a bilingual healthcare professional with a Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Administration and dual certification as a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA). With more than 15 years of experience in outpatient care, practice management, and insurance billing and coding, she brings both clinical and administrative expertise to The Rubin Center. Her leadership ensures that every family receives timely support, clear communication, and a seamless experience from the moment they contact the practice to the completion of their visit.

Becca, experienced medical assistant leading clinical support for psychiatric care at Rubin Center Psychiatry in Arizona

Lead Medical Assistant

Becca graduated from the Arizona College Medical Assistant Program in 2013 and brings over 10 years of hands-on experience in health care and family medicine. She joined Rubin Center Psychiatry in 2023 and leads our clinical medical assistant team, playing a central role in our day-to-day clinical operations.

As a Clinical Medical Assistant, Becca specializes in care coordination, insurance navigation, and medication support. She is highly skilled in managing prior authorizations, communicating with pharmacies, and helping families understand insurance requirements—making psychiatric treatment easier and more accessible for our patients.

Becca is also certified to administer medications, including in-office injectable psychiatric medications, and provides vital support with vitals, medication reconciliation, and safety checks during patient visits. Her calm, organized approach helps ensure that every visit runs smoothly and that families feel informed and supported.

For patients who are out-of-network or prefer not to use insurance, we offer affordable self-pay options. We provide superbills for OON benefits and ESA funds.
